World Book Day is nearly here.
Costumes are being planned. Classrooms will be filled with favourite characters. It is one of those days that feels just a little bit different.
It is always great to have a day that places reading at the centre of all that happens.
We know we are in a National Year of Reading. But primary teachers know that every year is a year of reading. Helping children learn to read, and to see themselves as readers, is a core purpose of what we do.
So we celebrate all of you who make that happen, day in and day out.
To support you next week, you might find our World Book Day activities helpful. They are free to download and ready to use.
Here they are:
Monster Phonics World Book Day
Superhero Spelling World Book Day
We have been contacted by a number of schools whose budget period ends on 31 March and who find themselves in the rather nice position of having some funding left to allocate. We are also talking to schools beginning to reflect on what they may need for the summer term and the academic year ahead.
Books will always be a wise place to focus.
If that is you, do come and talk to us.
We are always happy to help schools think through what might be most useful. We can share what similar schools have chosen, what collections are proving popular, and how different book sets support progression across the year.

Not sure which you are?
Classic is the much loved original Monster Phonics, featuring Tricky Witch and the Silent Ghosts, with all the imaginative elements your children already know.
Universal is a gentle visual update, with Tricky and the Silent Monsters, created so every school can feel fully at home with the programme.
The teaching and progression remain exactly the same. The difference is purely visual.
Have a great week.
