Kathryn Tilbury

Hi, my name is Kathryn Tilbury, and I am a School’s Success Consultant and Trainer for Monster Phonics. I joined the Monster Phonics team in September 2022 having retired from a 26 year long career as a teacher and senior leader. The last 20 of those years were in Early Years and I have been both an Advanced Skills Teacher and Specialised Leader of Education specialising in Early Years and phonics.

The roles I have had in school have enabled me to develop a wealth of skills, expertise and knowledge, which I can bring to supporting schools in delivering effective phonics teaching and learning with Monster Phonics. I have always been passionate about providing the best education and making learning fun and accessible for all children.

Since introducing the Monster Phonics Programme into my last school in 2020 my passion for phonics and phonics teaching has been reignited. I’ve seen first-hand how it engages and motivates the children and how they simply love phonics. In 26 years of teaching children to read and write I have inevitably seen what works well and what doesn’t work so well. Monster Phonics simply works. The pedagogy behind it, the colour coding, the monsters, the multi-sensory nature of the programme – I have never seen anything have such an instant impact on children’s engagement and in turn their progress and attainment.

Outside of education I love spending time with my family and going for long walks in the local countryside taking photos of flowers and plants which I like to draw to create botanical pictures.
